Your Medical Records

You have the right to confidentiality under the Data Protection Act 1998. your records will be accessed only by the doctors and staff involved in your care, and shared only with people that are providing your healthcare and who need to know (i.e. district nurse, hospital consultant, midwife, health visitor). Your records may also be used to check the quality of your care (clinical audit).

The Health and Social Care Information Centre has produced a GP2GP information leaflet for practices to distribute to their newly registered patients, or for publication on their practice website. The leaflet provides information about the GP2GP process and the electronic health record, as well as answers to some frequently asked questions. You can download Transferring your electronic health record from this link.
